Prep/Required Materials:
- Arrive to class with your quilt sandwich already together. Basted in your favorite method, whether spray, sewn, or pin basted.
- We recommend using Request Loft (thinnest) batting by Quilter’s Dream for your first one.
- Backing and Batting must be 5” - 6” larger than your quilt top on all sides. This is to allow us to quilt the blocks on the edge, so we are still able to hoop them.
- We recommend a wall hanging to lap size quilt for your first one. No table runners or placemats, please.
- Download the 10 embroidery designs from the CD rom in the book and load them on a USB stick. Decide which out of the 10 designs in the book you want to use.
Supplies:
- Legal Copy of Edge to Edge Quilting in the Hoop Book by Amelie Scott
- 2nd Edition is out now. If you need to purchase - please purchase 2nd edition. If you own the first edition that is fine to bring to class, you do not need to buy the book again.
- Request batting for your quilt top, 5”-6” larger on all sides
- Completed Quilt top
- Backing Fabric 5” -6” larger on all sides
- USB stick with your designs already loaded
- OESD Polymesh Cutaway Embroidery Stabilizer - Make sure the roll is the same width as your hoop.
- 505 basting spray
- Chose your thread. We recommend Isacord 40wt Polyester or 50wt Aurifil Cotton
- 40wt Isacord Embroidery thread - use 75/11 Embroidery Needle
- 50wt Cotton Aurifil Thread - use 80/12 or 90/14 Embroidery Needle
- Match your bobbin to your top thread. Use same weight. Color can be different, but we recommend matching top & bobbin for you first quilt.
- Pen/Paper for notes
- Basic Embroidery supplies such as snips, seam ripper, scissors, tweezers, extra needles etc.
- Basic 4" - 6" x 24" Quilt Ruler and/or Soft Tape Measure
