Which Stabilizer?
Successful piecing in the hoop may be accomplished with a variety of stabilizers. For this project, we have recommend Fusible PolyMesh. Fusible stabilizer preserves the block shape, even on bias edges, during assembly and quilting without adding bulk.

Alternatively OESD Ultra Clean and Tear provides a soft finish that practically disappears when it’s washed. Both PolyMesh Fusible and OESD Ultra Clean and Tear Fusible, hooped fusible side up, give the added benefit of holding the patches in place without tape; simply use a small craft iron to press those seams open right at the machine. Fuse and Fleece would work in the same manner and provide a bit more dimension to the finished block.

All have the advantage (over sewing machine pieced blocks) of having any outer bias edges stitched to the foundation eliminating the possibility of distortion during assembly.
